aboutme

As a child I was always the first one in my family to notice when the dogs were sick and the one who got up in the middle of the night to feed and treat them. It became my childhood dream to become a nurse, which was fulfilled in 1976.

In 1977 I watched a documentary on acupuncture in China showing open brain surgery with no drugs – just acupuncture anaesthesia and was immediately impressed that something that seemed so simple should have such a powerful effect. I studied for 3 years at The British Acupuncture College, University College, London and gained my Licence to practice in 1980 (see qualifications below).

My skills were developed by treating people with a wide range of conditions in Tyringham Naturopathic Health Clinic Buckinghamshire full-time and subsequently at the British Acupuncture Association & Clinic London for several years followed by  practices in Westminster, Harrow, Harley Street and currently in Wimbledon.

Being committed to my continuing professional development, I completed several courses over the years and more recently with AcuMedic in 2004 gaining a further Diploma in Chinese Healthcare & Acupuncture from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. A few months later I was very excited to travel to Beijing China to observe acupuncture in its original ‘home’, visiting clinics, hospitals, pharmacies and universities - listening to patients, doctors and lecturers.

In addition to acupuncture, I trained in healing, massage and aromatherapy. All these were integrated into my nursing practice in the 90s when I worked in Trinity Hospice and subsequently as a therapist in Hammersmith & Charing Cross Hospitals and latterly The Harley Street Cancer Centre. I gained a Teaching Certificate and co-founded a School of Massage. I also held a post as external examiner for Thames Valley University for some time.

In my 37 years as a healthcare practitioner I have been priveleged to treat and care for very diverse people with a wide range of physical and emotional ailments – each person unique and special. I have worked in the NHS, charitable hospices, private hospitals and in private practice and I am grateful to all of those people for helping me to develop personally and professionally.

As a child it was my dream to help sick people get better. It remains my guiding principle to help restore people to maximum health and energy in body and spirit.
